About two months after I had taken up the study of Christian Science our youngest daughter became severely ill with tonsillitis. I had been healed instantaneously of insomnia by Science, but because I was new to this wonderful religion, I was undecided whether to call a doctor or to have Christian Science treatment for the child. I consulted my husband, and he said, "Try Science, since it did so much for you, and if it doesn't work we will get the doctor." This was on a Saturday. On Sunday my class was to play at a school concert, and about fourthirty in the afternoon, while waiting for the performance to begin, I thought, If God could not heal my daughter certainly a hundred doctors could not do so. This change in my thinking manifested itself in the condition of the child, for when I reached home she was sitting up in bed, laughing and having a good time. My husband told me that the fever had broken about four-thirty. I did not know that the practitioner was treating me for fear at that time. This healing was a revelation to me and to my family.
Not long after this we were told by the public school authorities that our daughter must have an operation to remove her tonsils and adenoids. I consulted the practitioner who had treated the case. Within a week the tonsils were normal and the adenoids disappeared. Since that time there has been no return of the tonsillitis, which she used to have two and three times a year.
This daughter fell on the ice and split her upper lip badly. The doctor in attendance at the school said that unless two stitches were put in she would be scarred for life. Instead of allowing the stitches to be taken we relied fully on Christian Science, and the lip healed beautifully in a few days. With this healing a small growth on the lip disappeared.
