With a deep and reverent sense of gratitude. I submit this testimony of a healing which opened a new chapter in my life. Some time ago one of my thumbs was seriously infected. After several dressings, it became apparent that the bone was affected. The doctor diagnosed the trouble as osteomelitis, stating that the only practical remedy was to cut the thumb off. I then severed all connection with materia medica, and, driving throughout the night, I arrived at the home of a Christian Scientist early in the morning. Assisted by relatives, I got in touch with a Christian Science practitioner. Under her spiritual guidance, fear was finally eliminated, and after a two weeks' period of confinement to my room, where all waking hours were spent in Christian Science study, meditation, and prayer, there was definite proof that the thumb was being healed. At the end of three months the bone was completely restored.
This new chapter meant taking a definite stand for Christian Science and enabled me to make a decision to become a member of The Mother Church. Ignorance and fear had been two great handicaps previously in considering church membership.
Joy and peace are mine when I remember this experience, which did away with doubt and placed me on a substantial spiritual foundation. Since that time, an effort to gain more insight into real being has released me from many physical ills.
