As I have experienced so much help and encouragement on countless occasions through reading testimonies in our periodicals, I feel I must put my gratitude into action and send in my long-overdue testimony.
I took up the study of Christian Science over twenty years ago while trying to find help for my mother, who was suffering mentally and was in fear of having to be taken to a mental home At that time I was a worker in an orthodox church, and my concept of God was that of a mysterious, corporeal man. It was wonderful to learn of God as divine Mind and man as the expression of this Mind. Some understanding of this truth relieved my anxious fears for my mother, though she did not become as interested in Science as I had hoped. Her fears, however, were considerably relieved by what I was able to tell her, and she experienced more peace of mind.
After attending the services of a Church of Christ, Scientist, and learning something of its activities and the wonderful healing and regenerative work which was going on practically all over the world, I felt that here really was a church which proved its usefulness.
