"Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all...

From the July 1949 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name" (Ps. 103:1). These words of praise in a way express what I feel about Christian Science. My deep gratitude to God for revealing this great truth to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, is beyond expression in words.

Since I have taken up the study of this guiding truth, I have been born again, for a new way of life has been opened to me. Self-pity, caused by a tragedy in early youth, has been replaced with courage and strength. Extreme shyness has been exchanged for assurance and poor health overcome after I had gone from one doctor to another and had received various diagnoses, including a weak heart.

A way of growth has been opened to me far beyond my imagination. My cherished desire for traveling has been fulfilled. I have been blessed with a type of work which has taken me to many parts of the world, and I have had the privilege of seeing and enjoying its beauty and grandeur. Whenever I find myself in small and strange places and mortal mind would have me listen to its voice of woe, I have the Bible and the writings of our Leader and the wonderful Christian Science periodicals to turn to.
