For the wonderful protection of God's ever-presence and loving-kindness I have given verbal thanks in the Wednesday testimony meetings of a Church of Christ, Scientist. Now I feel that a written expression of gratitude not only is long overdue, but is a very great privilege.
About three years ago, I got up in the night and in the darkness miscalculated the distance between my bedroom door and the staircase in the hall. After stepping off into space, I fell down eight steps to the first landing and then down eight more steps to the kitchen floor.
Hearing the fall and my call for help, members of the household hurried downstairs. I was seriously hurt and bleeding; but I had not lost consciousness, and I was declaring that accidents are not known to God, as our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, teaches. With some aid I was able to get to my feet almost immediately and to climb the stairs. A practitioner was called, and within a very short time the bleeding stopped.
