"Were there not ten cleansed?" Jesus asked, when one
alone returned to render thanks. "Where are
the nine?" Why did they not return to praise
God for His wondrous work? Was it perhaps
timidity or pride? We do not know.
We can but hope they found at length the joy
of showing gratitude, of praising God.
We who have known the healing power of Truth,
hearts now enriched by Love divine, should not
refrain from giving thanks to God. May we
be ever ready, always quick to act
with Christly grace, and let men see the love
and joy of serving God. The rich reward
this brings is seen in lives redeemed, in hearts
made pure, in ills destroyed. This is true praise;
this is the highest form of gratitude.
