During the depression of the 1930's I was suddenly confronted with the necessity of becoming the breadwinner. I had a sick husband, three young sons to educate, and a home to keep going. The problem seemed insoluble. I was overwhelmed with fear and apprehension for the future. A kind friend said, "Would you like to have help in Christian Science?"
I replied, "I will try anything."
With the help of a practitioner I was enabled to take up the threads of my husband's failing business and carry it on. Until the tension broke and harmonious activity was demonstrated, I held steadfastly to these verses in Proverbs (3:5, 6): "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." The organization of the business became interesting and successful and was carried on for twenty years.
