"THE PANOPLY OF LOVE"

From the November 1960 issue of The Christian Science Journal

HOW beautifully our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, conveys her understanding of the protecting power of God when she writes in Science and Health (p. 571), "Clad in the panoply of Love, human hatred cannot reach you."

To realize the value of this clear-cut statement and to be at rest in its promise, one would need to consider earnestly the true meaning of Love. From the Bible we learn that God is Love. How shall we learn to know and to understand divine Love? Our Leader tells us that God is our Father Mother, tenderly, lovingly caring for each of His children. This we can comprehend, and so through our continued study of Christian Science we learn to turn to Him for guidance and protection.

As we experience and acknowledge His benign influence in our lives, fear and anxiety lessen, and we enjoy an improved sense of peace and rest. Thus does Christian Science lead us into the understanding of God, Spirit, manifest as universal Love— Love that holds the stars in their courses, that observes the sparrow's fall, that is infinite, embracing all men and nations.
