I came into Christian Science when I was a young woman. At that time I had been suffering from tuberculosis for six and a half years. I had also had a heart ailment from childhood. I was sent home from a sanatorium because the doctors could do no more for me.
I continued at home the rest cure I had been undergoing at the sanatorium and for a time was better. Then gradually I began to get worse until one day I collapsed and fell, sustaining a broken ankle and torn ligaments. The doctor said there would be no action in the ankle for at least seven years. Soon after this I contracted pneumonia and was taken to my mother's home to be nursed.
While I was there, a neighbor who was a Christian Science practitioner came in and talked with me about her religion. She came each day, and gradually I began to improve until I was able to be up for a longer period of time every day. Finally the pneumonia was healed.
