SUCCESSFUL ENDEAVOR IN BUSINESS

From the December 1963 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Today's business world presents a challenge to honest achievement, harmonious activity, and successful endeavor. Men and women engaged in business, whether they be employer or employee, are familiar with the problems of tension, discouragement, competition, and other aspects of limitation. To root out these disturbances, the student of Christian Science looks primarily within his own consciousness. There lies the solution to the problem.

Any occupation is the mental activity of the individual. If one is a corporation president or construction worker, accountant or sales clerk, he brings to the job at hand his individual consciousness. It is within the consciousness of individuals that the probems obstructing progress and harmony in daily work are solved.

Christ Jesus overcame the obstacles of limitation and discord that appear in daily life. He taught mankind how to be successful in every aspect of right human endeavor. Concerning the individual's thought, motive, and reward, he counseled, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you" (Matt. 6:33). Jesus clearly indicated the need of the understanding of God and His spiritual creation and governing law to be of first importance to the individual. Motivated by spiritual desire, one can expect the results to be progress and accomplishment.
