GO FORWARD

From the December 1963 issue of The Christian Science Journal

God's infinite, never-failing goodness governs all true being. Man, as God's beloved child, can never be separated from this spiritual bounty and blessing.

In Christian Science we learn that in our true being we dwell in the atmosphere of Love, which is full of blessings, but we must make the effort to become conscious of Love and to express it. Others can point out the way for us, but it is the duty and privilege of all of us to take our own steps out of materialism, with its discord and dismay, and to work out our own salvation.

However, human events may arise which would tell us that we are separated from good and that we do not know which way to turn. Mortal mind may suggest that we would do better to sit tight with what we already have than to take a chance by moving forward into the unknown. Or material sense may be satisfied with the present beguiling mortal picture and unwilling to surrender it for the spiritual one. Sometimes we are not sure that we are even going forward, as is the case in a period of mental chemicalization when material circumstances may for a time seem even worse than before.
