Certainty

From the December 1963 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A certainty unscarred by pride
Crowns surety with grace,
Transcending callous stubbornness
Where preconceptions trace
Set patterns—limited designs—
In narrow, trammeled space.

At dawn no trumpet sound proclaims
Clear certitude of light.
When meekness clothes assertion,
Each firm decree of right
Outshines all biased bigotry
With grace of unselfed sight.
