About nine years ago I was living in a very busy section of town; and because my apartment was in the middle of things, it was also very convenient to my work and to the theater and to literary meetings. But I had been interested in Christian Science for about ten years, and my former diversions lost much of their attraction for me. I desired more and more to devote all my thoughts and my activities to the study and practice of Christian Science. I was a member of a branch church and wanted to bring more to it.
It was because of this that I wished to find a rather small apartment, easy to keep, and in a pleasant and open neighborhood. "Desire is prayer," says our Leader on page 1 of Science and Health. I did some looking for a while, and then I came to rely on God alone and prayed in this way: Guide me, Father. Make me know thy ways; and if I must wait in order to continue better preparing myself spiritually, Thy will be done!
