To Remember

From the December 1964 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christmas is a time when we remember
a star-crowned stable
and the glory of humility:
when we recall
that there is wonder
in the grace of being able
to live in peace:
and that there is gentility
in meekness.

Christmas is a time when we remember
the shepherds' story
and the depth of its sincerity;
and by a stall
we see earth's kings and powers
in grateful reverence bending,
in witness of Love's reign
over severity and weakness.

This is not just a morning in December.
The Messianic message, never ending,
tells us once more, with angel voices blending,
thus to commemorate the Saviour's birth—
with love for all
and peace upon the earth.
