Christian Science assures us that the evidence of God's allness and goodness is ever present despite the apparent contradictions of many material conditions and events, and it explains how to experience this good now. This teaching holds deep interest for those who yearn to believe in and understand God and yet need to see tangible proof that He is real and loving. It speaks to those who long to see convincing signs of His control appear in a troubled world. A basic premise of Christian Science is that God, who is Love and Spirit, produces all good. This good is spiritual, and it is as unlimited as its source. There is in reality no finite good. Hence the idea and substance of every good thing which we may need are, in fact, here now, for the source of good is omnipresent. Spiritual consciousness demonstrates this truth.
That God's love is ever present may astound the human mind, which sees about it many evidences to the contrary. Nevertheless, our Way-shower, Christ Jesus, recognized Love where others saw only sickness, turbulence, and lack. As a result of his clear vision he confidently healed disease, silenced the roaring tempest, and satisfied the hunger of multitudes. On one occasion he pointedly reminded his disciples that sustaining truth and substance are ever at hand, notwithstanding the testimony of material sense. He informed them (John 4:32), "I have meat to eat that ye know not of."
Mrs. Eddy had outstanding success in healing the sick and reforming the sinner. She let her spiritual sense bear witness to true evidence and to man in God's image.
