For the past several years great inspiration and healings have come to my mother and me through the work of a consecrated practitioner, who roused both of us to a more active and dedicated study and application of Christian Science. In particular I wish to write of a healing of my mother which took place in 1962. We feel that the outstanding aspect of this healing was the refutation of beliefs attached to age, since Mother is now in her late eighties.
While we were visiting friends, Mother suffered severe injuries outside their house. The four men present were unable to lift her, and at this point I was grateful that I could leave her and go to call a practitioner. When I returned, a way to lift her unfolded to us, and after a little rest in a chair Mother walked to the car. Then my husband drove us home, and she was able to climb several flights of stairs to reach our apartment.
In helping her out of her clothes, some of which had to be cut off, I found that her upper arm was broken; her nose also was broken, her face badly lacerated, and her body severely bruised, particularly on one side. At first the thought came to me that her arm should be set; but after I had mentioned this to the practitioner, we were both awakened to rely entirely on God, and we took our stand immediately.
