Testimonies of Healing

My gratitude for Christian Science is...

From the December 1964 issue of The Christian Science Journal

My gratitude for Christian Science is unbounded. I was reared in it, but, not realizing its true value, I began backsliding during my college years. Soon after college I married a naval officer and found myself alone much of the time. I felt a need for comfort and began attending church more regularly. Previous to this, in the interest of marital harmony, I had felt I was justified in not attending. A practitioner alerted me to the fact that we do not enter the kingdom of heaven in pairs, but singly. This thought has aided my progress.

When our eldest son was five, I had a baby who passed on several days after birth. This was the turning point in my life. Up to this time in my experience I had seen the truth but faintly. There followed several other disappointments in carrying children. I did not give up Science but continued earnestly in its study. As a young girl I had often witnessed the healing power of Truth in my home, and I knew it would work if applied properly. The medical verdict was that there was no hope of my bearing another child.

About this time I read an article in the Christian Science Sentinel that changed my whole outlook. Human will began to melt away. Very soon after this I became pregnant again, and the pregnancy was fraught with opportunities to prove God's allness. The baby was born prematurely, and the doctor was doubtful about the child's survival because of his minute size.
