The Accurate Interpretation of Being Heals

From the May 1974 issue of The Christian Science Journal

All that really is, is divine Mind and its activity or idea. To mortal sense—to that which assumes the materiality of all cause and effect—it doesn't seem this way. This false sense can't see what is; it misperceives the reality of being. It sees everything as having its roots in time and matter, as finite, mortal, incomplete.

Mortal sense, rather than seeing spiritual realities, views material objects, its own conceptions. Its physical man and universe are misconceptions of being. In its error it includes a man who is apparently fleshly and destroyable. In a clarifying explanation Mrs. Eddy says: "Creation is ever appearing, and must ever continue to appear from the nature of its inexhaustible source. Mortal sense inverts this appearing and calls ideas material. Thus misinterpreted, the divine idea seems to fall to the level of a human or material belief, called mortal man."Science and Health, pp. 507-508;

It is of great practical importance to learn through Christian Science how to cease seeing man and creation as physical. This Science is unique in its method of making man and the universe coherent to our understanding and healing us. It does not operate within a space and time frame of reference but replaces it with a fully spiritual outlook. Science decreases the misinterpretations that make up the material man and cosmos and gives us clearer views of all things.
