In the Governor's Hands

Puppets can be amusing when the figures manipulated are inanimate dolls, but no human being should ever be at the end of a string held in the hands of another. Yet in human experience this state of affairs seems all too common. The instinct that rises in rebellion against this subtle form of enslavement is wholesome. The great liberator of mankind, Christ Jesus, has told us, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."John 8:32;

Who really controls the life and movement of every individual? Is it another individual or some group that "knows the ropes" and how to pull them? Or is it the divine Principle, God, the one cause and creator?

The oneness and allness of God is emphasized throughout the Bible. "All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the Lord . . . . For the kingdom is the Lord's: and he is the governor among the nations."Ps. 22:27, 28; And in Science and Health Mrs. Eddy writes: "The sun is not affected by the revolution of the earth. So Science reveals Soul as God, untouched by sin and death—as the central Life and intelligence around which circle harmoniously all things in the systems of Mind."Science and Health, p. 310;
