I had my first healing in Christian Science more than fifty years ago. Through the prayer of a practitioner, within a few days I was completely healed of an ugly skin disease that had not yielded to medical treatment.
I did not yet understand the preventive aspect of Christian Science, and while taking part in sport activities I frequently had accidents resulting in such injuries as sprains, bruised shoulders, and broken ribs. But I had a deep faith in God, and again requested help through prayer from a practitioner. The quick and complete healings of my injuries prompted me to study Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and this passage illumined my consciousness (p. 127): "Science is an emanation of divine Mind, and is alone able to interpret God aright. It has a spiritual, and not a material origin. It is a divine utterance,—the Comforter which leadeth into all truth."
