The astounding illumination of Love

From the May 1980 issue of The Christian Science Journal

How profound are these two statements made by John: "God is light, and in him is no darkness at all" I John 1:5; and "God is love." 4:8; Love, then, is light, which spiritually illumines human thought.

Today people are called on to give evidence of the light of Love in the understanding of Love and in the consistent knowing of the truth. To understand God and to know oneself as His spiritual reflection empower one to freely express divine attributes—including harmony, satisfaction, serenity—which makes living a joy. At one time or another we all have met someone who reflected such light and godliness that everyone around him was encouraged and uplifted.

Christ Jesus said, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Matt. 5:16; Surely that light is the illuminating radiance of Love.
