Acknowledging his identity as being in and of Spirit, God, and looking away from the material scene, Jesus was able to heal quickly and completely.
He accepted God as the source of intelligence and power. He affirmed his oneness with his divine Father and declared both his and his followers' separateness from the material world. "They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world,"John 17:16; he said.
Christian Science reiterates the same spiritual fact. Why? Because God's spiritual creation, including man, never has been, is not now, and never will be affiliated with nonintelligent matter. No partnership exists between the belief of a limited space-time world and God's unlimited spiritual universe. Because the spiritual universe is real, matter is unreal. Because the spiritual universe is the only universe, matter is illusion.
