Vigilance

From the August 2025 issue of The Christian Science Journal

There is danger in limiting the
limitless and everlasting God,
in murmuring over mediocrity,
surrendering to the lie that disaster
is inevitable or grief eternal,
or forfeiting our responsibility
to one another.

To accept these shadows is like
drifting off in a darkened room,
blind to the northern lights
blazing above,
or deaf to a symphony
of salvation.

Yet, nothing can dull the primal, spiritual desire to be alive—
to live out loud our unbroken
communion with
the vastness of Life,
the luminescence of Love,
the towering power of Truth.

Let Truth surge through
consciousness,
dislodging apathy,
thoughtless conformity,
fear, and the flavorless
and unforgiving.

Brilliance is our birthright.
We walk in wonder and wisdom
into the ocean of infinite Love.
The lie of limitation shatters,
and we find our home in
our oneness with God and one another.

Life liberates.
Soul soars into expression.
God says, “Let there be light,” and there is light.
