Testimonies of Healing
I should like to express my heartfelt gratitude for the many benefits I have received since becoming interested in Christian Science. My first healing, which was from constipation, occurred about five years ago.
I grew up in an atmosphere in which love and mutual understanding and confidence were unknown. The more I became aware of this, the more I suffered, and the more I longed for something better than what the world had to offer.
Christian Science was first presented to me nearly twenty-three years ago by a dear friend as a source of comfort in a great sorrow. Through the reading of some Sentinels, which I eagerly devoured, my thought was so helped that I desired to read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.
It is my sincere desire to express my gratitude for the rich blessings which my family and I have experienced through the wonderful teaching of Christian Science. In 1911 dear relatives told us of this beautiful teaching, this new-old religion.
" The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. " This beautiful verse of Scripture describes my approach to Christian Science.
Eleven years ago my mother, who had taken up the study of Christian Science for healing, asked me to get the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and read it. I did so, and while reading the chapter on Prayer, was healed of anæmia and chronic indigestion.
I have received much help spiritually and physically through Christian Science. Many blessings have come to me through what knowledge I have gained by its study.
I am deeply grateful to Christian Science for having taught me to lean upon and turn to God whatever the need may be. During the years that I have been interested in Christian Science I have had many proofs of God's willingness and ability to heal and uphold under all circumstances.
I had heard of Christian Science for many years, and had been gradually getting ready for it before I began definitely to study it. Two members of my family became Christian Scientists, and this made me think a great deal; and although I was very much opposed to what I thought Christian Science was, I began to pray again, a thing I had not done for some time, and to read my Bible.
Several years ago I bought a copy of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and endeavored to study it. I was in good health at the time, and did not become interested in its teachings, as they were not understood by me; so the book was set aside.
