Testimonies of Healing
I have every cause to testify to the fact that "the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword. " Two major operations were avoided through the application of Christian Science.
Early in 1921 I was raised from invalidism of a number of years' standing through Christian Science treatment, and since that invocation and demonstration of divine power I have grown in the strength and gladness of spiritual discernment. From childhood my health had been delicate.
In November, some years ago, I began to read, first, the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," then Mrs. Eddy's other books, which I obtained at a Christian Science Reading Room.
In loving gratitude for all the blessings I have received in Christian Science, I give this testimony. The lessons learned in attending the Christian Science Sunday School for a period of ten years have been of great value to me in working out daily problems as they have been presented.
The following experience came to me when I had been studying Christian Science only nine months; and from it valuable lessons were learned. I had been able in the brief time I had been studying to make numerous demonstrations for my children over minor troubles; but always in the midst of my rejoicing would come the suggestion, like a mocking voice, This is all very well in small matters, but supposing some great or sudden danger threatened, would you turn to your new-found Christian Science or to a doctor? Always this tormenting argument seemed to go on, trying to destroy my peace and joy in this new-found truth.
From the time I was eleven years old I suffered from muscular and articular rheumatism, as well as sciatica in its worst form. I was often in bed for months at a time.
I have received so many benefits from Christian Science that I desire to praise Him "in the great congregation;" and I take this means of so doing. My mother became a student of Christian Science when I was about nineteen.
When I began my study of Christian Science, I was utterly discouraged and wretched in both body and mind. I had always been considered delicate, and as added years and marriage brought more work and greater responsibility I became less and less able to take my part in life.
Since taking up the study of Christian Science three years ago, I have experienced healing a number of times, but am especially grateful for the most recent occasion. For some time I cherished a great desire to see The Mother Church, and at last the way opened, in a very unlooked-for and, as I felt, providential manner, for me to make the trip to Boston.
When Christian Science was presented to me, about nineteen years ago, by a dear friend who had been healed through the application of this blessed truth, it proved indeed to be God's opportunity; for I seemed to have reached the point where I was without hope or God in the world. It seemed as if I was afflicted with almost every ill that "flesh is heir to," and burdened with a deep sense of sorrow almost beyond endurance.
