Testimonies of Healing

Christian Science , revealed by Mary Baker Eddy to this age, literally kept me from the grave. It brought the light of spiritual understanding, and with this spiritual illumination of consciousness there came a wonderful healing, after materia medica had failed and abandoned me to the unknown beyond.

Although my father was a physician of note, I am happy to say that our home was seldom the place for discussing disease. This naturally helped me to turn from contemplating medicine and illness.

Several years ago I sustained a compound fracture of my right ankle. There must have been a moment of unconsciousness; but as soon as I was conscious I said aloud three times, "God is All," and seemed to feel the circulation of the blood returning to my foot again.

For many years I had throat trouble, which was a barrier to my work as a teacher. Many times I had to be out of school for a week or two owing to this trouble.

When first I caught a glimpse of the truth contained in that divine message, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest," I was in a hospital. I had had five operations at different times previous to this, and apparently almost every ill that "flesh is heir to.

After thirty years of suffering from what physicians named chronic catarrh of the stomach, I was completely healed through Christian Science in ten treatments. I had been a member of an orthodox church since childhood, but had never learned about this truth that heals.

Some years ago I suffered from a nervous trouble accompanied by melancholy, from which I was not relieved, in spite of the kindest efforts on the part of renowned specialists. One of these physicians advised me to consult an especially renowned physician for nervous complaints.

Before coming into Christian Science I was an invalid for many years, being a sufferer from nervous and organic troubles. I was confined to the house, and the greater part of the time was obliged to rest because of severe backache.

In expressing my gratitude for Christian Science I know not how to enumerate the blessings that have come to me during the past ten years, so many, so rich, and so full have these blessings been. From my earliest childhood I was instructed in the Scriptures, my father being a clergyman; and for years the teachings of the Protestant faith seemed to satisfy.

About two years ago I was healed of poisoning after childbirth. To conform with the law, a doctor had to attend me; but I wanted above all else to have Christian Science treatment.
