Testimonies of Healing
About a year ago, my small daughter returned from school one day with a sense of great discomfort, and by evening was so feverish that a practitioner was called. The next morning the fever was entirely gone, and on the third day the child was back in school, perfectly well.
Gratitude for all the activities of the Christian Science organization, as well as for our periodicals and the many helpful testimonies contained therein, impels me to add my own, which is much overdue. It is now over fifteen years since I first heard of Christian Science.
Through reading the metaphysical article on the Home Forum page of The Christian Science Monitor for April 20, 1922, I have come to realize that this testimony must be given, for the reason that it glorifies God and conforms to the request of our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. In February, 1908, my sister wrote us that she had been healed, by reading the Christian Science Sentinel, of an abscessed tooth which had caused her a great deal of pain.
Over ten years ago Christian Science found our home in the depths of darkness and despair, for the doctors had told my husband, who had been suffering for some months from heart trouble, that he could not expect to be well again. It was then that man's extremity in our case, for Christian Science healed him.
I am so grateful for all the blessings that have come to me through the knowledge of Christian Science. I can hardly remember the time when I did not rely on God's power to heal, for I was a very small girl when my mother first became interested in the study of this truth.
With a deep sense of gratitude for the way Christian Science has led and is still leading us, I shall relate a healing which was the means of making an entire family students of this gospel of healing. About seven years ago, while we were living in the country, one of our children, then a girl in her early teens, developed pneumonia.
Before getting acquainted with Christian Science I underwent a good deal of physical suffering, but worse than this was the constant fear of an hereditary tendency to mental depression. A sincere love for study made me choose a university career.
It is over three years since I came into Christian Science. At that time I was a nervous wreck.
We turned to Christian Science for the healing of my wife, who was in a critical nervous and physical condition. The doctors had given up all hope of her recovery, and had suggested that she be removed to a sanitarium.
Jesus said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. " From the fullness of my own experience I can testify to the truth of these words.
