Testimonies of Healing

Christian Science came to my knowledge several years ago through the healing of a friend in the last stages of Bright's disease. It was not the need of healing that attracted me, although I have had many blessings in that line; it was the beautiful thought that the Christ lives to-day as in Jesus' time.

I was influenced to become interested in Christian Science by "the silent lesson of a good example" ( Miscellaneous Writings, p. 126 ).

[Original testimony in French] I desire to express my deep gratitude for the blessings which I have received from Christian Science. About four years ago I was in a lamentable physical and mental condition, all the more unhappy because I did not believe in anything.

The first healing which came to me, after becoming interested in Christian Science, was the healing of my eyes. I had worn glasses from the time I was about twelve or thirteen years of age, and it was said by an oculist that I should always have to wear them.

Many years ago I was confronted with evil in the form of the drug habit, superinduced by a number of physical conditions which produced great suffering, and for which morphine was given. It was supposed to be hereditary.

I know I have too long withheld my testimony of what Christian Science has done for me and mine during the past eleven years. During that time it has been our only physician, a preventive as well as a curative for every discord.

Ever since September, 1910, I have been reading the testimonies in The Christian Science Journal and Christian Science Sentinel , and many is the time I have resolved to write and tell of the many blessings I, as well as my family, have received through Christian Science. Before taking up Christian Science I had been considered a semi-invalid for a number of years, suffering from bronchitis, rheumatism, indigestion, and other ills too numerous to mention.

Christian Science has brought to me many blessings, and I am deeply grateful for them all; but the one for which I feel most thankful is the understanding I am gaining of God through the study of Christian Science, for it has given me a God I can understand and love and demonstrate in my daily life. The healing power of Christian Science has been demonstrated innumerable times, and so-called medical laws have been broken through the work of a Christian Science practitioner for me.

I awoke one morning with every symptom of what physicians would call diphtheria, and as the day advanced the condition appeared more alarming, the throat seeming to be almost entirely closed. With the help of a loving Christian Science practitioner, on the morning of the third day I ate quite a hearty breakfast; and before evening every indication of disease had vanished.

My first healing in Christian Science was the almost unconscious laying off of glasses while reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I had worn them for study and work for over five years; but I simply forgot I had been in the habit of wearing them.
