Testimonies of Healing

It is with a heart full of gratitude to God, to Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and to our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for the great benefit received through Christian Science that I write this testimony. When a young girl I suffered from a severe throat trouble.

"It is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. " It must have been God who called to me when as a young girl I decided to search for Truth.

Some years ago my sister-in-law, who had been healed of a nervous breakdown, called my attention to Christian Science. Although my own attitude and that of my husband towards Christian Science was one of rejection, and we even derided my sister-in-law, we were eventually persuaded to visit a practitioner in order that my husband might be healed of nervous attacks and difficult breathing, which occurred regularly during the night.

Christian Science has been the greatest experience in my life. It has opened a door into a new existence, which I was not aware of before.

As one who has received much help and cheer from the testimonies in our periodicals, I gladly add my tithe of joy and gratitude for blessings which are constantly coming to me and mine through the study of Christian Science. Fifteen years ago our three-year old baby was healed of infantile paralysis; seven years ago our elder boy was healed of chronic tonsillitis and quinsy, which years of medical treatment had failed to help.

I turned to Christian Science as a last resort. If there had been any other way open it would have been gladly accepted, for I thought I was very much opposed to Christian Science.

For many years Christian Science has been my only help and comfort, in every difficulty that has presented itself. When it was brought to me, I was not in need of physical healing, but my mental condition was restless and unsatisfied, and I seemed to be on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

I am glad to express my deep gratitude for Christian Science, for the loving and unselfish life and work of our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, and for the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," written by her. About five years ago I borrowed a copy of the Christian Science textbook, and through reading it was healed of astigmatism, for which I had worn glasses more than three years.

It is over twenty years since my first healing through spiritual power took place. I was healed of rheumatism by one week's treatment in Christian Science; but the light of the truth taught in Christian Science had come to my consciousness about two years before that, at the time of the birth of our second child.

I wish to express gratitude for the many blessings I have received since I first became interested in Christian Science, some sixteen years ago. Through the help of a practitioner I was at that time healed of intestinal indigestion; also of astigmatism, for which I had worn glasses several years.
