Testimonies of Healing

I am indeed grateful for this privilege of expressing my gratitude for Christian Science, for what it has done for me, for what it is doing for all the world, and for what it will do in time to come. Christian Science came to us when we most needed it; and it has never left, always being "a very present help in trouble.

I would like to add my bit of gratitude in the following testimony. During the last fifteen years Christian Science has proved a very present help in time of trouble, and has never failed to relieve every discordant condition which has been presented to me.

With deepest gratitude to God, to Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and to our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, I send this testimony in the hope that it will be of help to others who may be struggling. In April, 1917, I applied for enlistment in the United States Army and was accepted the following month.

Christian Science brings healing and comfort; and if mankind but realized this, all would seek to share the benefits it brings. It had long seemed to me that there was something lacking in the teachings of the church to which I belonged, for we had Jesus' definite words, "These signs shall follow them that believe.

Christian Science came to me while dwelling in the shadows of unbelief and fear. All my life I had been searching for an understanding of God and had reached the conclusion that an honest seeker must be satisfied with an unknown God.

I wish to testify to healing through Christian Science from an acute attack of so-called ptomaine poisoning. One day I was taken suddenly ill with extreme nausea, without any warning.

About six or seven years ago through a friend I was given some Christian Science literature, among which was a copy or copies of the Sentinel . I read there testimonies of healing through Christian Science which seemed to me very remarkable, and I saw also that the other articles in the magazines were very ably written and were evidently the work of sane, intelligent, thinking human beings; and so I concluded that these testimonies must be true.

It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I wish to express my appreciation for Christian Science healing. I have depended on its sustaining power for several years, and in no demand has it failed me.

At one time it became necessary for me to change completely my line of work and place of living. After beginning my new work, and while living among total strangers, I became, to material sense, very ill.

In the spring of 1900 I visited a friend in New Jersey, and while there was seized with an acute pain, due to a growth in the breast which had for two years caused me much suffering and inconvenience, as I was at times unable to use my arm. On this particular day fear and despair seemed to overwhelm me.
