Testimonies of Healing

When four years ago Christian Science was for the first time intelligently explained to me, I was in a western state many miles from home. Almost from childhood I had been considered delicate, and at this period of my life I had so many physical ailments that it was well-nigh impossible to get in all the prescribed doses without having them conflict.

My offering is given in the desire to do for others what has been done for me through our literature. It has often been remarked, How can I be expected to overcome physical pain when the seeming reality is extremely distressing? Having been troubled with two infected fingers, one night I was awakened by throbbing pain.

For five years I suffered from heart disease, which was pronounced chronic by several doctors; they all said I might live a long time, but must avoid all excitement. I suffered greatly in breathing, and the left side was much swollen.

It was about two years ago that I received my healing through Christian Science, by which I was led to believe God's promises and to take Him at His word. From childhood I had been a sufferer, and of late years the heart complaint was so bad that I was practically an invalid, unable to do my work or walk any distance, and confined to bed for long periods of time.

It is with great joy that I write this message of what Truth has done for me. At the time Christian Science was brought to my attention I was suffering intensely from stomach trouble, which dated back to early childhood, and was also confronted with an operation for inflammation of the gall bladder, the doctors saying it was the only thing that would relieve me.

I have long desired to bear testimony through our periodicals to the healing, purifying, and regenerating power of this new-old demonstrable religion, in the hope that other sufferers, reading my experience, may be cheered and encouraged to seek Truth at this open fount of divine Love which is pouring forth freely to all who come ready to part with prejudice, a false sense of self, and to accept and apply, uncompromisingly, its teachings to their every problem. From early childhood until healed through Christian Science, I had been burdened with the fear of lung trouble, as the result of a serious illness pronounced by our family physician "lung fever," which left me in delicate health.

I wish to express my gratitude for the benefits received through the study of Christian Science. A frozen ear has been quickly restored to its normal condition; very irritating soreness manifested in the throat has been dispelled; and in a comparatively short time, without the aid of material remedies, I have been relieved of the inflammation, hardness, and severe pain occasioned by a fractured arm, and can now use this arm.

My gratitude for Christian Science is beyond expression in words. I was healed eighteen years ago, and since then have been devoting my entire time to Christian Science, and feel that I can never do enough in return for what this great truth has given me.
