Testimonies of Healing

My first encounter with Christian Science is a memorable one, and it determined my desire to learn more about it. Some thirty years ago, upon the recommendation of a friend who was a Christian Scientist, I sought the help of a Christian Science practitioner concerning a difficult relationship.

In August 1977 I was admitted to a Veterans Administration Hospital suffering from severe pains in my back. After an X-ray was taken, I was told that a disk in my spine had disintegrated.

Two years ago I was healed of a painful skin condition that caused blisters, mostly on my hands and legs. A Christian Science practitioner was helping me, and I pondered many passages from the Bible, and from Science and Health by Mrs.

My first testimony appeared a half century ago. The healings of quinsy, goiter, nervousness, and the blessings of normal childbirth, and improved disposition have all been permanent.

A few years ago I was a very sad and lonely young woman. The world was a frightening, uncaring place to live.

Several years ago, on my return from a long trip around the world, it was apparent that I was very ill and in need of nursing care. I was taken to a nursing home for Christian Scientists near New York City.

At one time I suddenly found that my mouth would open only slightly and my face and neck were swollen and painful. I was afraid.

Shortly after I graduated from college, Christian Science class instruction opened my thought more fully to the infinite resources of Spirit available to all mankind. The yearly association meetings since then have encouraged me to persist in discovering, understanding, and using these divine resources.

I am grateful to have overcome a miserable condition of chronic shyness. Extreme timidity continued from childhood into manhood.

In 1951, before I was living in the free world, I heard for the first time of Christian Science. I was led to a very kind Christian Scientist, who guided my first steps in the truth.
