Testimonies of Healing

Recently an article appeared in the Christian Science Sentinel in connection with the Christian Science Church Center building program entitled, "The Reflecting Pool. " This brought to thought an experience in our family at the time of the building of the Publishing House, on which I have often reflected.
Just before entering college I found that I had a distressing physical problem, and I turned to Christian Science for healing. During college the condition became more aggravated, and after I graduated I moved from my hometown to Washington, District of Columbia, in order to work more closely with a Christian Science practitioner who was helping me.
I have never known any religion but Christian Science and my early home training has made it natural in time of need to turn to God first and trust in Him. A few years ago I took a tumble and landed on my arm.
During the summer, a few years ago, a disturbing condition appeared on my hands. I dealt with it according to what I had been taught in Christian Science but not, I'm sorry to say, with my whole heart.
I am grateful for Christian Science, which I feel has benefited my life in many ways. Many times I have received treatment through prayer from a Christian Science practitioner.
My first contact with Christian Science came through a sister, who had been told by a physician that she would never be well unless she underwent an operation for an internal injury, which had made her a semi-invalid for several years. This sister had attended a Christian Science Sunday School one Sunday with a friend, who was aware of her need.
Mary Baker Eddy tells us on page 243 in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures : "The divine Love, which made harmless the poisonous viper, which delivered men from the boiling oil, from the fiery furnace, from the jaws of the lion, can heal the sick in every age and triumph over sin and death. " For more than a quarter of a century as a student of Christian Science I have been experiencing the truth of the above passage.
One proof of God's protection stands out among the rest in my grateful memory. I was on my way home from church after the morning service, when I felt something drop on my head.
For the first time I am living alone, and I am enjoying this grand opportunity to study the textbooks, the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and to pray frequently as we are taught to do as students of Christian Science.
