
Testimonies of Healing
I wish to express gratitude for Christ Jesus, for Christian Science, and for our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who gave us this wonderful truth.
In the Bible we read ( I Pet. 4: 12, 13 ): "Think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: but rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
More than a half century ago I began the study and application of Christian Science, and over the years I have gratefully experienced many instances of healing through scientific metaphysical prayer. Early in my study of Christian Science I was instantaneously healed of a chronic condition of sties around my eyes, a condition which had harassed me throughout a period of two years.
I was led to Christian Science through a dear friend. One day while she was talking of the value of this religion with such a beautiful glow of joy, I felt there must be something about it worth investigating.
I was reared in a Christian Science home. Because of my parents' steadfast reliance on God to meet our every need we experienced many healings.
Mrs. Eddy tells us that "Christian Science is always the most skilful surgeon, but surgery is the branch of its healing which will be last acknowledged" ( Science and Health , p.
It is about forty years since I first became acquainted with Christian Science through the healing of my father. He was at that time suffering from a growth on one of his legs.
I could easily fill a sizable book with accounts of healings and blessings bestowed upon me during the past half century through the study and application of Christian Science. It was during a raging, tropical typhoon on the island of Guam, when I was a bride, that I first felt the need of knowing how to pray.
For over thirty years I have received many blessings from the study of Christian Science, and with deep gratitude I would like to relate some of them. I was a regular soldier in the British Army during World War I, and it affected my health.
I first heard of Christian Science when, as a girl of sixteen, I dated a boy who attended the Christian Science Sunday School. Although I had attended an orthodox Sunday School for years, many questions about God, life, and death remained unanswered.
