Testimonies of Healing

I could easily fill a sizable book with accounts of healings and blessings bestowed upon me during the past half century through the study and application of Christian Science. It was during a raging, tropical typhoon on the island of Guam, when I was a bride, that I first felt the need of knowing how to pray.

It is about forty years since I first became acquainted with Christian Science through the healing of my father. He was at that time suffering from a growth on one of his legs.

For over thirty years I have received many blessings from the study of Christian Science, and with deep gratitude I would like to relate some of them. I was a regular soldier in the British Army during World War I, and it affected my health.

I first heard of Christian Science when, as a girl of sixteen, I dated a boy who attended the Christian Science Sunday School. Although I had attended an orthodox Sunday School for years, many questions about God, life, and death remained unanswered.

Having had Christian Science practically all my life, I have enjoyed a lifetime of freedom from sickness, disease, and accidents. I know that through the study and application of Christian Science, and the lessons I learned while attending Sunday School, I have been protected and sustained.

Since my last testimony appeared in the Christian Science Sentinel more than ten years ago, I have received many blessings and proofs of God's care. The giving of testimonies at the Wednesday testimony meetings gives one a feeling of saying "Thank You" to God.

I first became acquainted with Christian Science in July, 1941. Since then my life has been completely changed.

On page 402 in Science and Health Mrs. Eddy writes, "The time approaches when mortal mind will forsake its corporeal, structural, and material basis, when immortal Mind and its formations will be apprehended in Science, and material beliefs will not interfere with spiritual facts.

When our oldest son was about three years old, he came into our bedroom early one morning, complained that he didn't feel well, and then appeared to lose consciousness. His body became rigid, and he seemed to be in a coma.

I am deeply grateful for the healing of a growth on my face. Through steadfastness in Truth and the work of a devoted practitioner, this growth was completely removed through Christian Science.
