What a joy it is to be a student of Christian Science! Having been reared in a home where Science was the only physician or help in any need, I was blessed beyond words. Among my blessings was a college education which had seemed nearly impossible.
I have loved Christian Science since I was a child, and I remember how natural it was for our family to turn to God for help in time of trouble. My grandmother was healed of Bright's disease, my young sister was healed of infantile paralysis, and I was healed of diphtheria.
At the age of eighteen years, after leading a very active and healthy life, I became ill and had to consult a doctor, who immediately sent me home to bed. The following week I was rushed to hospital with double pneumonia and pleurisy.

As a youngster I enjoyed attending a Christian Science Sunday School. My dear grandmother was responsible for my introduction to Science at an early age, and I shall always love and admire her for standing alone for what she believed was right, sometimes in the midst of great opposition.
