Testimonies of Healing
Because of the study of Christian Science, my life has been filled with blessings. Of those healings which have stood out to encourage and inspire me, I should like to mention a few.
When I was a very young girl, my father was instantaneously healed of chronic stomach trouble upon visiting a Christian Science practitioner. At the time, he knew nothing of Science; but after his healing, he started the serious study of this wonderful healing religion.
I should like to share some of the many benefits I have received through the study and application of Christian Science. For a period of over twenty-five years, I have relied for healing on the spiritual truths the Bible contains, and those found in Science and Health and the other writings of our Leader.
I have received many healings, and my heart is filled with such gratitude for God's loving care that I earnestly hope others can reach out and obtain help in Christian Science as I have done. I have found that when I seek God's help it is always—and immediately—available.
I attended a Christian Science Sunday School for a number of years but did not gain a working knowledge of Science. Consequently, after I left home to live and work in a distant city, my understanding was not sufficient to solve the problems that I encountered, and I decided that Science was not for me.
As a theological student I found I was unable to obtain satisfactory answers to my many questions relating to God; also I was unable to accept the advice of the well-meaning faculty that it was wrong to question certain religious beliefs. Deeply troubled and filled with doubts about God Himself, it was at this hour of great need that I was introduced to Christian Science.
One of the first healings that I remember occurred when I was a very young child on my way to a Christian Science Sunday School with my sister. A boy on a bicycle knocked me down and ran over my wrist.
On page 390 of the Christian Science textbook Mrs. Eddy states, "It is our ignorance of God, the divine Principle, which produces apparent discord, and the right understanding of Him restores harmony.
About nineteen years ago, my husband was transferred to a large city where some relatives of mine lived. I soon learned that they were Christian Scientists.
