Testimonies of Healing
During the past thirty-six years I have enjoyed, through Christian Science, blessings too numerous to mention. The first healings I experienced were those of chronic sick headaches, which were among my earliest remembrances, and chronic sore throat.
My heart is filled with gratitude for all the good that has come to me and mine through the study of Christian Science. We were led to freedom from bondage at a time when our youngest daughter had a serious ear trouble.
I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for Christian Science, which came into my life through the healing of my father more than twenty years ago. At that time I enrolled in the Sunday School and attended mostly because my family wanted me to.
In these times of unrest I turn for comfort to the first chapter of the book of Joshua and remind myself that I must "be strong and of a good courage" and accept God's promise that "the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest" ( Josh. 1:9 ).
So varied have been the demonstrations of the efficacy of Christian Science in our home that I should like to relate a few of them. Over two years ago I was prevailed upon by a stranger who lived in another city to transact a business deal which involved thousands of dollars.
From earliest childhood I had bitterly opposed taking medicine, so much so that to give me any usually required force. My mother said the only reason I ever offered was that I wanted God to heal me.
Christian Science has taught me the importance of reading the Bible through an inspired and spiritual sense of the Word. I have found that this Science not only illumines the Scriptures, but shows us how to apply the spiritual teachings found therein to our everyday problems.
" Follow the directions of God as simplified in Christian Science, and though it be through deserts He will direct you into the paths of peace," our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, admonishes in her priceless book, "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" ( p. 361 ).
With sincere gratitude for blessings received, I wish to confirm the testimony of my wife. At the time we turned to Christian Science for help, she was very weak and confined to her bed.
I took up the study of Christian Science because of ill-health. I was an active member of an orthodox church and was seeking God, but at the same time I was placing my faith in materia medica.
