Testimonies of Healing

Through many years Christian Science has been our physician in times of illness, our Comforter in times of sorrow, our friend and counselor in times of stress; and, indeed, no day passes without abundant evidence of its healing, guiding, and protecting influence in all our affairs. At our Wednesday meetings we hear many beautiful testimonies of the healing of all sorts of inharmony, and we are deeply grateful that "with God all things are possible. " I too have had many proofs—some instantaneous, some not so quick—of God's power to heal sickness, broken bones, loss, sorrow, and so forth.

More than thirty years ago I was healed of cancer just by reading that wonderful textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I had had two operations and was on my way from El Paso, Texas, to Chicago, where my doctor was to meet me and take me to the best surgeons there to have the third operation, which the doctors said would be the last one.

The law of Moses, or the Ten Commandments, found in the twentieth chapter of Exodus, sets forth God's demands for absolute obedience to Him and the moral code for human conduct. In the Beatitudes in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus reveals the blessings and rewards that come to those who are receptive to the demands of Love and to those who are striving to fulfill them.

It is a great joy to testify to the healing power of Christian Science and to express my thankfulness for the many benefits I have received through its ministry. My heart overflows with gratitude for the many physical healings and the spiritual uplift I have gained from the study of this Science.

Although I am nearly two thousand miles from my own church, I should like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for the help that I have received from Christian Science. I have now been attending Christian Science church services for the past twenty-three years, and during this period have had numerous demonstrations of the healing power of Truth.

I have felt impelled for some time to give grateful testimony to the many healings I have experienced through the study and application of Christian Science. When I was a child, my mother and grandmother were students of this Science, and I had the opportunity of being reared with a knowledge of it.

I am grateful for the friend who introduced me to Christian Science. I had heard little of this Science until she came to our house to spend the day.

More than twenty-six years ago I was the first member of our family to take up the study of Christian Science, and throughout the years I have had many demonstrations of God's love and care. Later my parents took up the study of this Science and received many benefits.

When I was ten years of age my mother passed on, despite my entreaties to God to spare her to us. I then turned away from prayer as of no help, and for many years wandered through the wilderness without God.
