Testimonies of Healing

For all the good I have received since taking up the study of Christian Science, I wish to give thanks. I am grateful for the physical healings, the spiritual uplift, and the protection experienced by the members of my family.

In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy we read ( p. 249 ), "Let us rejoice that we are subject to the divine 'powers that be.

The testimonies in the Christian Science periodicals have been inspiring to me for more than fifteen years. My gratitude for them prompts me to add my own written testimony, hoping that it will help some struggling heart.

I was born and brought up in a Christian Science family and did not have all the various illnesses to which children are subjected. I remember with joy the first demonstration of Christian Science healing I had without help from my mother.

I feel it my profound duty to testify to what the love of our Father-Mother God has done for me, and to express my gratitude. In 1923 the light of Truth was revealed to me through a woman who was then just an acquaintance.

When I first heard of Christian Science I was in Washington, District of Columbia, had just been released from a hospital, and was growing worse. I went to a practitioner to have Christian Science explained to me and to ask for treatment.

I should like to express my gratitude for Christian Science Reading Rooms, for it was in such a room that I received my first healing in Christian Science. For a number of years I had been a victim of Bright's disease, and I had reached the point where I could work no longer.

A copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy was put into my hands at a time when I was in a mental turmoil because of unhappy circumstances over which I appeared to have no control. I had read but a little of this book when I knew that I had found the truth for which I had always been searching.

Christian Science was brought to my attention when my son was old enough to go to Sunday School, and so I enrolled him. We read in Isaiah (11:6) , "A little child shall lead them.

It is with sincere love and gratitude to God for all that He has done for me that I give this testimony. I had been a registered medical nurse and knew nothing of Christian Science until seven years ago when I was called on a Christian Science case.
