Testimonies of Healing

I am very grateful for this opportunity to express my appreciation and thanks for Christian Science, the only way of life. It has been my privilege to attend the Sunday School and enjoy its splendid teachers since I was five years old.

For some time I have felt that I should express gratitude for Christian Science through our periodicals. Previous to the time that I began to study Science I faced each new year of teaching with the question, "Will there be enough sick leave days for me for the school term?" In 1924 I was teaching in an eastern city.

For the concept of God and of man's relationship to Him gained through the study and application of Christian Science, I am deeply grateful. For many years I have turned to Science for the solution of all problems, and it has never failed.

I desire to be counted with him who returned to give thanks for his healing as recorded in the seventeenth chapter of Luke. Three years ago the passing on of my cousin, who had been my girlhood companion, changed my entire plan of living.

Like many others who have experienced healing through Christian Science treatment I, too, often have occasion to recall one of my first physical healings and ponder its simplicity. Some time ago an aunt living in another state visited our home hoping to interest our family in the study and application of Christian Science, and, since we lived in the country where there was no church, to show us how it was possible to have church services right in our home, according to the order prescribed in the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy.

I have been counting some of my blessings since the publication of my previous testimony in the Christian Science Sentinel a few years ago, and humbly submit this one in the hope that it will give encouragement and comfort to others seeking healing in Christian Science. I remember that when Science first came to me I was so uplifted by its beauty that I lived for a long time in thought on the mountaintop.

Up to the time that Christian Science found me at the age of ten I was sick most of every winter with such heavy colds that we always thought they would develop into tuberculosis. And because of time lost from school I was two years behind.

Because we have recently moved to a town where there is no Christian Science church or society in which I can publicly give thanks to God for all His goodness, and I feel the desire to continue this former activity, I am submitting the following testimony in the hope that it will be of help to others. A Christian Science lecturer I once heard said that there were some Scientists who were so full of the letter that they forgot to practice Christianity.

Christian Science found me while I was training in a Lutheran Deaconess Home, where I was serving because of my desire to help mankind. I was called home because of serious illness in my family, and when I arrived I found that they had turned to Christian Science as a last resort.

Because I have received so much joy, peace, and happiness since I have become interested in Christian Science, I feel that the least I can do is to express my gratitude to God for two healings I have had. The first healing was one of drinking.
