Testimonies of Healing

I should like to express my gratitude for Christian Science Reading Rooms, for it was in such a room that I received my first healing in Christian Science. For a number of years I had been a victim of Bright's disease, and I had reached the point where I could work no longer.

When I first heard of Christian Science I was in Washington, District of Columbia, had just been released from a hospital, and was growing worse. I went to a practitioner to have Christian Science explained to me and to ask for treatment.

A copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy was put into my hands at a time when I was in a mental turmoil because of unhappy circumstances over which I appeared to have no control. I had read but a little of this book when I knew that I had found the truth for which I had always been searching.

Christian Science was brought to my attention when my son was old enough to go to Sunday School, and so I enrolled him. We read in Isaiah (11:6) , "A little child shall lead them.

It is with sincere love and gratitude to God for all that He has done for me that I give this testimony. I had been a registered medical nurse and knew nothing of Christian Science until seven years ago when I was called on a Christian Science case.

Christian Science was presented to me several years before I accepted it, but I finally did so at a time when I was suffering from what a physician and a specialist pronounced one of the "worst collapses of all nerve centers" that they had ever witnessed. The condition resulted from grief at the passing on of my parents within a very short time of each other, and the strain of their illness prior to that.

I wish to express my gratitude for the comfort and protection Christian Science afforded me during a year with a construction battalion in the Solomon Islands. I was often reminded of the expression "thus far and no farther" because of the many times that I experienced protection.

In I Peter 2:9 we read, "Ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light. " I was indeed dwelling in darkness when, at a time of great need and in answer to prayer, Christian Science was presented to me.

For eleven years I have enjoyed reading the testimonies published in the Christian Science periodicals. Now I feel that it is my turn to express my gratitude.

I should like to take this opportunity to give expression to my deep gratitude for the many blessings which Christian Science has brought me. My introduction to Science came through physical healing.
