Testimonies of Healing
The blessings that have come to me through the application of Christian Science are indeed numerous. Three years ago I had some sort of difficulty with my legs, which persisted for three months and made walking painful, for it was almost impossible to bend my legs.
About twelve years ago, when I was very near death, a friend asked my husband to try Christian Science treatment for me. The trouble had been pronounced rheumatism of the heart, and anemia.
Mary Baker Eddy writes in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" ( p. 210 ): "Good thoughts are an impervious armor; clad therewith you are completely shielded from the attacks of error of every sort.
In a spirit of humble gratitude this testimony of God's protection and love is submitted. While I was in combat on a Pacific island, I saw several incidents which convinced me that God, divine Love, does indeed fully protect and preserve His children.
" Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ" ( Rev. 12:10 ).
With a great sense of gratitude for the many years of health and protection that I have enjoyed since taking up the study of Christian Science, I write this testimony. Since I have derived such an abundance of good from reading the testimonies in the periodicals, I want to add mine that it may enable someone in need to find hope and understanding.
Whenever I get a new Journal or Sentinel I turn at once to the testimonies of healing, for they bear grateful witness to the fact that Christian Science heals all manner of diseases in all parts of the globe. Now the time has come for me to express my own gratitude, as far as I can in words.
Because of the great good Christian Science has brought into my life during the past twenty-eight years, I wish to express my deep gratitude for it and share my experience with others. I was suffering from a nervous breakdown due to anxiety over the illness of my mother and to my inability, as a result, to finish my college education.
The testimonies in the Christian Science periodicals have been so helpful to me that I should like to add mine, hoping it will benefit some who may be struggling with a similar experience. During my early childhood, my mother suffered from attacks of quinsy at intervals of two or three months.
Until I began the study of Christian Science, it never occurred to me that God could be understood. I believed in a Divine Being and offered long prayers to Him, but He seemed very far away, and I never felt quite sure that He would meet all my needs.
