Testimonies of Healing
I started using tobacco during my early schooldays. Later the craving became so strong that I wished to discontinue using it.
Christian Science is without doubt the greatest blessing that has ever come into my life. I had always loved God and was an earnest student of the Bible, but I did not find the truth about God and man until I learned something about this Science.
I should like to express my gratitude to God for Christian Science. Although I have been attending church services and Wednesday evening meetings for a number of years, I have never been called upon to study Christian Science so thoroughly as I have recently.
Christian Science was introduced to me at a time of great need by a dear friend, who asked me if I would read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I was very much interested it.
When I was a little girl I learned that Christian Science heals, but like many others I thought I was too busy either to study it or to use it. But, as I look back over the many things which I have to be grateful for.
It has been my privilege to have had the benefits of Christian Science since early childhood and for this I shall always be grateful to our Father-Mother God. The truth of being has unfolded naturally, and as a result my childhood was a very sweet and healthful one, and I never experienced any so-called children's diseases.
Through a healing of paralysis of the nerves I became interested in Christian Science twenty-six years ago. From that time until a short while ago I accepted Christian Science simply as a means of freeing myself from any discordant condition in which I might find myself.
Many healings have taken place in our home since my first testimony was published in the Christian Science Sentinel of June 13, 1931, and I should like to relate two of them. On my return home one afternoon I found our son suffering from a badly swollen and discolored ankle.
Many years of academic study had given me little equipment with which to face the trying ordeal of seeing my husband suffer bravely for many months in spite of the generous, kindly efforts of members of the medical profession to help him. It was not until about two years after he had passed on that my thought was sufficiently humble for Truth to dawn in consciousness, and its radiant freshness dispelled the dark shadows of resentment, intense fear, and ignorance of spiritual reality.
I wish to add my expression of gratitude to my wife's testimony. The reports of instances of protection and healing which have occurred in the present war always kindle my flame of gratitude for Christian Science.
