Testimonies of Healing
With a grateful heart I should like to bear witness to a wonderful healing I experienced through the truth as taught in Christian Science. It was more than fifteen years ago that I turned to Christian Science for healing.
I should like to share an experience I had while in high school that proved to me, without a doubt, the healing power of Christian Science. One evening at school, I was taken ill with pain in my side and I felt very sick and miserable.
I feel that I have up to now neglected a great privilege, that of an open acknowledgment of gratitude to the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, for the many years of blessings and protection that Christian Science has afforded me, and gratitude for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church. I became interested in Christian Science many years ago through a friend, who had been healed of a number of serious ailments.
Christian Science has brought many blessings to me and to our home. My first healing was remarkable to us.
For over twenty years I have enjoyed the rich blessings of Christian Science. I have received many physical healings, sometimes through my own understanding and sometimes through the help of a practitioner.
I wish to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me and mine. It has raised me up from semi-invalidism to health and peace.
It is a loving desire to share with all mankind the many blessings I have received through the efficacy of Christian Science which impels me to give this testimony. "Having no hope, and without God in the world," I turned to Christian Science after all material means had failed, and I was healed of tuberculosis of the lungs.
How can one be grateful enough for Christian Science, which blesses all mankind! For surely, as each individual is blessed, blessing is brought in some degree to all. I was led to take up the study of this Science about thirteen years ago, not for physical healing, but because it seemed to me to be a logical, satisfying religion.
From childhood I suffered from stomach disorders, and from headaches caused by astigmatism. Ailments increased in number as I grew to womanhood.
A realization of the fact that "man's extremity is God's opportunity" was mine in November, 1912. I was taken with nervous prostration in its worst form, due to overwork, and was given up by the physician, who told my parents I could not live twenty-four hours.
