Testimonies of Healing

I deem it a privilege to testify to the fact that the promise which Christian Science held out to me, some twenty-five years ago, has been abundantly fulfilled. It came as the complete answer to my longing to know God and so to understand what life really is, healing me, almost at once, of nervous indigestion of long standing, and of the need of wearing glasses for astigmatism, which had been necessary during the previous ten years.

When I recall the good that has come into my life through the study of Christian Science I am humbly grateful to our precious Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for her pure life and steadfast love for God and man which enabled her to explain the teachings of Christ Jesus so clearly that even a little child can demonstrate them. Christian Science is a joyous religion because it offers an immediate way out of discordant thinking and its discordant effects.

To me Christian Science has truly been the Comforter which our beloved Master promised us the Father would send in his name. I would not exchange even a small part of what I have learned through Christian Science for all that I have learned through four years in high school, four years in college, and in over twenty-five years of business life.

It is with much gratitude that I record what Christian Science did for me before my marriage, and has done since then for my family and myself. After my parents passed on I was invited to live with an aunt and an uncle.

Christian Science has transformed my entire life. I gratefully acknowledge my freedom—physical, financial, and mental—from years of self-imposed bondage.

For the sake of others who may be laboring with a similar trouble, I should no longer delay in offering my testimony of healing. As a child I grew rapidly, and my feet were often cramped in my shoes.

More than forty years ago I bought the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and began to study it. The first healing I had was of sick headaches, which was accomplished so quickly that it started me thinking.

Twenty-four years ago I had lost all faith in religion and felt there could be no God. My father, sister, and mother had all passed on within three years.

I am very happy to relate a few of the many blessings and healings we have experienced through the study of Christian Science in the past fourteen years. Following a serious operation from which I did not fully recover, I carelessly leafed through a copy of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which belonged to a friend, and came upon the words, "Life, Truth, and Love," as a description of God.

Healing in Christian Science comes as a revelation. It is a manifestation of mental regeneration, whereby we prove that "man's extremity is God's opportunity.
