Testimonies of Healing
With a heart full of gratitude for Christian Science and for the blessings it has brought into my life, I give this testimony. In Isaiah we read, "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
I am glad to express in writing the gratitude I feel for all the good I have experienced through the study and application of Christian Science as given to the world in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our courageous and much-beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. This truth was presented to me about ten years ago by my wife, who had heard about it from a friend.
In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy has given us a most precious recipe for the healing of all problems. That Christian Science heals has been proved many times by its students.
My first healing in Christian Science came when I was eight years old. A case of measles had left me with ear trouble and deafness.
In November, 1927, I experienced my first healing through Christian Science treatment, at which time I turned wholeheartedly to the study of Christian Science. In 1929 I entered a state university, and despite financial difficulties I was enabled, through the application of Christian Science, to complete my education.
When I turned to Christian Science everything seemed wrong with my affairs, and I was in a mental turmoil. I had moved to a city where I was without friends or even acquaintances.
My work being electric meter testing, many occasions arise when it is necessary to handle electric wires which are energized. Recently, while I was testing a certain part of a meter, a "flash arc" took place in close proximity to my left eye.
It is with sincere gratitude to God for the many blessings that my daughter and I have experienced through Christian Science that I give this testimony. Sixteen years ago I was led to Christian Science after medical attention by specialists had failed to help my little girl, who was suffering from mastoid trouble.
When Christian Science was first presented to me I was suffering from ulcers of the stomach. A stomach specialist had treated me for six weeks and said he could do no more for me.
In Jeremiah we read, "The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. " Looking back upon my first acquaintance with Christian Science, I realize that for some time I had been desiring to know God better.
