Testimonies of Healing
The following quotation from the Bible, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee," turned my weary thought searching for peace and comfort toward the healing truth as given in our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Doctors had pronounced my trouble anemia and had said that it would be imperative for me to submit to at least one or two surgical operations before I could regain normal strength and activity.
Some years ago my son came home in a state so serious that a relation sitting in the room exclaimed, "You must take him to the hospital. " At the same moment a voice seemed to say, "You give a treatment.
Many blessings have come to me through the study of Christian Science. I am grateful for many healings and for the peace and joy that are ours through the understanding of God.
I should like to add my testimony in regard to the healing power of Christian Science. In the summer of 1939 I noticed a small growth on the back of my right hand.
Having received so much benefit from reading the testimonies in the Christian Science periodicals, I should like to give mine. The many years that I have been trying to be a Christian Scientist have helped me to be a better woman.
We may often pause, in the days of our pilgrimage from sense to Soul, reverently to give thanks for all the good that has come to us in proving that God is. "Giving" and "serving" are the watchwords, so again I can give testimony to the efficacy of this healing truth and to what Christian Science has done for me.
I should like to add my expression of gratitude to that of thousands who have been blessed through the understanding and application of Christian Science. It is the only religion I have ever known, and it has never failed to solve my human problems whenever thoroughly tried and whenever solely relied upon for help.
About two months after I had taken up the study of Christian Science our youngest daughter became severely ill with tonsillitis. I had been healed instantaneously of insomnia by Science, but because I was new to this wonderful religion, I was undecided whether to call a doctor or to have Christian Science treatment for the child.
About three years ago, while reading an article in The Christian Science Journal, I found this definition of consecration: "Absolute right thinking about every individual, circumstance, and condition. " This has served to correct my thinking and has enabled me many times to resist the temptation to indulge in criticism or condemnation, and I am grateful for it.
In the summer of 1912, I accepted an invitation to attend my first Christian Science church service. While my friend was extending this invitation and explaining a little about Christian Science, I was healed of constipation.
