Testimonies of Healing

When Christian Science was presented to me about twenty-seven years ago, I was suffering from a nervous breakdown and chronic throat trouble. I was living in a small community where there were no Christian Scientists, and I did not know a practitioner.

Gratitude to God for Christ Jesus, our Way-shower, and for the consecrated life of our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who gave us Christian Science, impels me to give this testimony. Fourteen years ago, while living in a large midwestern city, I was steadily losing weight and strength.

I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science, which has been my only physician for the past fourteen years. When I have been obedient in applying its teaching, it has never failed to heal.

I should like to express my deep gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me in the past twenty-two years. On page 1 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, writes, "Thoughts unspoken are not unknown to the divine Mind," and she adds, "Desire is prayer.

From my own experience I know, beyond question, that when its rules are earnestly applied, Christian Science heals every kind of disease and difficulty. Although I have known of Christian Science all my life I was very antagonistic to what I believed its teachings to be until I was instantaneously healed, solely through reading its textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

Since becoming interested in Christian Science in 1921, I have experienced many beautiful proofs of God's care and guidance. I find that as I understand and apply the teachings of Christian Science given in our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and other writings by our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, my need is always met.

On page 330 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," the author, Mary Baker Eddy, makes this statement: "When the following platform is understood and the letter and the spirit bear witness, the infallibility of divine metaphysics will be demonstrated. " Immediately following this profound statement she sets forth with irrefutable logic the fundamental spiritual facts which constitute the "platform" of Christian Science.

Sixteen years ago I was in the depths of despair and felt the future held no promise of improvement. For seven years I had been a semi-invalid because of heart trouble.

Words can never express the gratitude I feel for what Christian Science has done for me and is doing for all mankind. Christian Scientists can never be grateful enough for the loving and selfless service of our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy.

It is with sincere gratitude to Christian Science and to the understanding practitioner who helped me to realize the truth that I wish to substantiate my wife's testimony. I was indeed a slave to the liquor habit, and had smoked for many years.
