Testimonies of Healing

At the close of the last war I was walking through an office building in New York City when I saw the sign "Christian Science Practitioner" on a door. I am not conscious of ever having heard the words "Christian Science" up to that time, nor had I ever seen one of the periodicals, but a tragic experience in my life caused me to endeavor to reach out for more harmony than I was then experiencing.

I am very grateful that Christian Science teaches us to know God as a loving Father-Mother and to turn to Him in every need. More than twenty years ago in the Christian Science Sunday School I learned this quotation from the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs.

My acquaintance with Christian Science began in the Christian Science Sunday School, when I was a small boy. There I early learned the Christian Science definition of God; also something of the spiritual meaning of the Ten Commandments, the Beatitudes, and other truths taught to the children.

Christian Science was brought into our home by a dearly loved aunt, at a time when spiritual guidance was very much needed. It was she who gave me my first copy of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and the Church Manual, which our beloved Leader gave for our guidance and for the protection of the Cause.

In his epistle to the Hebrews, Paul describes, in beautiful symbolism, what it means to be a Christian. Part of that description reads, "Ye are come unto.

It is with joy and gratitude for what I have received from the study and application of Christian Science that I desire to share some of those blessings with others. I found Christian Science answered my deep desire and search for something which would solve the inexplicable problem that human life seemed to present, and give satisfying answers to the constant questions troubling my thought.

Over half a century ago, while we were living in Georgia, my father returned from a business trip to our former Michigan home, and brought to us the message of Christian Science. Many times I have heard my father say, "I am convinced that Christian Science is the truth.

My heart overflows with gratitude to God for Christian Science, and to our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for her faithful and patient work; also to the loving practitioners who have helped me. About six years ago I was healed of mastoid trouble in the right ear, which caused me much pain for two months.

This testimony is lovingly and gratefully given by one who stepped from darkness into light through Christian Science. Just before taking up the study of Christian Science, I went to a chiropractor for relief from extreme nervousness with all its attendant disorders.

In the utilization and practice of Christian Science we understand that the healing of a minor ailment or the harmonious adjustment of a slight misunderstanding between persons is as definite a proof of the dependability and exactitude of this Science as is the healing of a so-called incurable disease or the clearing up of a seemingly hopeless situation. At times there may be a reluctance to give a testimony of the countless proofs of God's care and love for His children, because the experiences have not been of astonishing proportions.
